I think it is increasingly important for the public to start thinking about how film is affecting our lives as an influential medium. It could both live in an avant-garde realm and be the popular entertainment and intellectual consumption. The Creative Process allows students to engage with curators who have experiences in presenting art, along with its less accessible meanings, to the general public. The cross area of intellectual dialogue and casual engagement is what interests me the most.
As an undergraduate I am majoring in art history, and have experiences working at a local art museum. I have recently developed an interest in film studies and the filmmaking practice. I have completed a few experimental short films in 16mm, and am currently working on a documentary on my city’s history as entangled with Japanese and Russian attempts of colonialism. I am applying to film schools as well as film studies grad schools going out of undergrad.
